League Leaders

Dust Devils upset caps lower seeds suprises

Josh Smith - El Dorado Dust Devils     For the third time in league history a number 7 seed has knocked off a 2 seed, as El Dorado eliminated No Carolina, the defending Division Champs, in three games behind a strong all around team effort.

The Dust Devils were led by the strong play of SF Josh Smith, not to underplay the big contributions by C Al Horford and PG Chauncey Billups. The Wizapins made it close, but without their star SG Monta Evans they were unable to overcome El Dorado's efforts.

Across the board the lower seeded teams did not make things easy for the top seeds with many close games, however both teams from last season's Finals are still alive after the first round.

The Semi Finals, all best 3 of 5 game series, start tonight and run thru March 16th.

Fantasy Flashbacks, Phoenix & Cal again

LeBron James - Phoenix Fusion    King James led the Phoenix Fusion past the Rage in four games to advance to their thrid straight Finals appearance, and yet another rematch with the Spoiler Makers.

California's march through the playoffs seemed unlikely after the first third of the season, mired in last place at 4-9. After their offense turned around in Week 6 led by SF John Salmons, they went 23-2 the rest of the way and haven't looked back.

Familiar foes and franchises sharing many similiarities, both Phoenix and California have made the Finals four times including this season, have won two, and have faced each other now for a third time. Each time injuries have played a factor, and this year should not be any different with star PF Dirk Nowitzki questionable going into the series for the Spoilers.

The Finals, a best of 7 format,  will start this evening and run thru the 16th of April.

Fusion roll over ailing Spoilers ?

LeBron James - Phoenix Fusion     Behind superstar LeBron James the Fusion zipped past the limping Spoiler Makers in the Championship Finals for the third season in a row to capture their fourth title.

The Spoiler Makers were unable to put up any real competition, after losing their starting SF Al Thornton and PG Randy Foye to injuries.

A break in the action is up next for the league while the NBA Playoffs get underway and look forward to the NBA & FBF Draft Lottery scheduled to take place on May 19th, followed by the 2009 NBA Draft on June 25th.
